HOUSTON LAND ROVER CLUB
MONTHLY MEETING – November 6, 2019
7:30 P.M. AT JAX
Kirby called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. Introductions were made and the HLRC welcomed Jason Atkins.
Kirby gave a summary on the Hill Country Rover Rally in Marble Falls. Houston had a great showing at the event with 20 Land Rovers. He stated that everything was really dusty and hot, but everybody had a great time. Renee turned his truck over on a night run. Thankfully no one was hurt. Members watched some video and viewed pictures of the trip.
Courtney attended the Overland Expo East and had a great time. She said it was an awesome experience and she attended classes on cooking, rescue and recovery, and various slideshow presentations. Kirby stated he went a few years ago and agreed with Courtney – it is a lot of fun.
Numerous members stated they would be interesting in attending a recovery/rescue class. Augie stated that he learned the 3 pulley system while in the Marines.
Jason is working on a full touch screen system that will work with an Android phone. It will work like Apple Carplay. It could possibly read diagnostics. The Raspberry Pi will work with a specific dash that is part of a D-1 and D-2.
The new Defender will be available this November and December, 2019.
Courtney mentioned that she lives downtown and there is a party room available if the Club wants to have a potluck party.
Door prizes were drawn. The meeting adjourned at 8:45 p.m.
