Trail Spotting Signals from the Northern California Rover Club

ften when you are off-roading, you need a spotter to help you negotiate obsticals. If you've ever had more than one person spot you, chance are he or she did not use the exact hand signals as the previous spotter.

Doug shared the following link with us that he found on the Northern California Rover Club's Web site. Since they did such a nice job, we'll simply link to them. Doug also provided the following comments:

The spotting signals are pretty much are in agreement with the Bill Burke signals I use. The only important change is signalling a turn, where I would use just one hand to signal the turn while the other hand signals the motion (forward, back, slow, etc).

The hand signalling the turn always points inward, never outward. So if you look at his "turn" picture, the left hand would not be pointing outwards, but signalling the vehicle motion (come forward).
