SCARR '08 - A wife's Story (Meredith Crouch)

These are my 9 points on SCARR 08

1. Thursday night--- If you have to be left at camp Mabey with two children while everyone else is out trail riding because you are too chicken to go, find Doug Aitken he
makes the best grilled Salmon and the vegetables were great as well!!!

2. Friday Morning--- Make sure your 6 person tent will actually accommodate your family otherwise you will be a total grump in the morning and everyone at the camp grounds will hear just what a bad mood you are in.... Also, not having your tent sealed and then having a really a bad thunderstorm is no fun either.. So, I guess you live and learn right?

3. Trail running on Friday was a lot of fun. We had great people to ride with and we were laughing and having a blast the whole time. And yes I still can't believe some of the stuff that a Land Rover can do.

4. Friday night--- It was exciting to see the cars drive up Twister and know that I was lucky enough to not have to be in one of them. It was really cool seeing Melissa and Trey's Range Rover take on such a crazy obstacle!!!

5. Saturday morning--- All I have to say is burrrrrr its April in Texas it is not supposed to be that cold!!!!

6. Saturday late morning-- Trail running with the SCARR guide was awesome we did a number of trails and had a lot of fun!!!

7. Saturday afternoon--- Its a slight blur we did some more trails... We ended the afternoon by watching the amazing group effort of winching Scotty Thorpe's Series 109 up a huge hill. My kids got a kick out of running up and down the mountain. And oh yeah the red sand of Barnwell does not come out of clothing as easily as my husband promised (another lesson learned).

8. Saturday evening--- We did a few late evening runs and I think there are still hand imprints on the passenger side door. I was terrified. My children passed out and missed
the whole thing though... Our leaders for the evening Trey and Melissa were great!! So, thanks for a thrilling time

9. Sunday morning--- Time to pack up and go home. Ok, someone needs to explain to me how we started breaking down our camp earlier then most of the members of the
group but yet we still managed to be the last one's finished? Hmmmmm, it couldn't have been me chit chatting with everyone, or the fact that I was chasing after my children??

Anyway---- THANK YOU, THANK YOU to everyone!! I had a great time Everyone I got to spend time with was awesome. My kids now have lots of great memories, and they got to have really fun experience!! !! And finally Thanks to my Husband for taking me on such a crazy trip and making me leave the comfort of my house to be out in the middle of no where with almost no running water and no real toilets!!!
