Moab,
Utah/Bill Burke '04 Trip - Page 7
Thursday, April 1st, 5:40PM
(4:40PM New Mexico time).
It took us a while to get going today.
The guys departing today came by the hotel to bid their
farewells, and they departed for Houston (well,
Kai and Ken did... Sergio is going snowboarding and
Steve and Mary are on their way to the Grand Canyon).
The weather was not as nice today as
it has been. It's partly cloudy, though it was raining
this morning. So, we (Doug, Josh, Angie, Special Ed
and I) had brunch at the local diner. Afterwards we
headed over to Gearheads--a store a lot like REI, but
with real gear. What a mistake this was... $75.
After the purchases of random stuff we
didn't really need, we headed out to Arches National
Park. Pretty incredible place as you can see from the
pictures below, but I think we were all a bit worn
out at this point. We did hike up to a few of the arches,
but decided to drive the rest. Perhaps if we had done
this first... before Bill Burke got into town?
My dog seemed to be interested at first,
but like us, his enthusiasm diminished pretty quickly:
We also hiked up to Delicate Arch:
It's a pretty neat park, but after the three days
we had out in the middle of nowhere--with no lines,
no cars, no railings, etc.--this place just didn't
do it for us. I guess we got spoiled.
My dog didn't like it either... I'm not sure why???
We're actually on the way out of the park right now.
Special Ed is driving and I am typing. We're watching
a nasty looking storm roll in; I think we are about
to get wet.
The trip out of the park was cool though; we saw some
deer and big-horned sheep...
O
yea, for those of you concerned about my leg.. it does
indeed look worse. The pain!
Here comes the rain...
I'm hopping out of the car to go into the Tee Shirt
Shop. Until
later...
