Moab,
Utah/Bill Burke '04 Trip - Page

Monday, March 29th, 9:10AM
(8:10AM Utah time).
Good Morning! It's not as cold this morning--40°.
Last night, Doug stayed in the hotel
and Josh, Angie, Special Ed and I camped. We had filet
mignon and chicken fajitas.
My dog had me a bit worried last night.
I thought he was really sick, so I bundled him up in
the car and checked on him a few times. As it turns
out, he was simply tired; because, this morning, he
is bounding with energy. That's good!
Sergio, Kai and Ken arrived a little
after 10:00PM last night. Apparently they had to stop
somewhere along the line and adjust Sergio's wheel
bearings.
See Sergio's tent right there by itself?
As he was setting up his tent, he heard the snorefest
coming from Ed's tent and decided to move his tent
away from us.
I had also heard the Land Rover Owners
magazine guys had already scratched the side of the
new Range Rover... that story was confirmed this morning
when I met up with them at the gas station. Well, confirmed
in terms of I saw the scratch--I didn't ask. They look
like a couple of great guys--I see fun in our
future
over the next 3 days.
Also, Steve was having trouble with his
ABS wires since he installed the taller suspension.
Apparently Doug woke up at 4:00AM and went downstairs
at the Big Horn Lodge and soldered up Steve's ABS wire
extensions. Pretty cool.
Anyway, I'm sitting in McDonald's and
getting ready to head over to the City Market to meet
Bill Burke. It may be a bit before I can upload again,
so stay tuned...
Oh, and by the way. I have learned that
the mountain bike trails we were riding were the most
difficult in Moab. Special Ed found a write-up in a
pamphlet we were given and the trails are rated at
a 4 (out of a scale of 1-4). I don't feel like such
a wimp now.
Ciao for now...
Monday, March 29th, 8:00PM (7:00PM
Utah time).
To say today was the most awesome time
I've ever had in my Land Rover would be the like saying
Einstein was kinda smart. I cannot even begin to tell
you what a completely awesome time we had. Just absolutely
amazing!!!
I guess I could go on about the Moki
marbles, the
uranium arches, the uranium mining stakes, Mary sewing my button back on my shirt,
how 2/3 of Utah is public access and about 1/10th of
one percent of Texas is. I could talk about the Destination
towers, or how fun the trails were, or how cool it
was to watch the guys from LRO with the new Range Rover
on the trails. I could go on about all of the education
Bill Burke gave us on everything from mining to star
constellations. But I think if a picture says 1000
words, I've got several
novels below. Enjoy!
