The Club President, Steve McDonald, began the meeting at 7:35 with the usual club member introductions.
Past Events:
- Trail clearing Sunday 9th and 16th at Columbus
- Dealer Event Sunday 30th (South, North and Central dealers combined). Very successful event. Comment for the future: bushes on sides of trail need to be cut further back to minimize and prevent any damage to the trucks on the trails.
Upcoming Events:
April:
- SCARR: 17th through 20th. Details will be posted on the website.
- Saturday 12th British Parts International open house. A couple of people from the club will be there, representing us.
Future event ideas:
- Family camping day might be organized – Talk to Sam for details
- Possibility of weekend at OZONA – new off-road park. Sam will look into that
- Chris offered his land at El Paso to anybody that wants to go and off-road there.
- Potential movie night at Renaissance Hotel
- Memorial Park Picnic Day: details will be posted on the website.
General comments:
- Land Rover Monthly magazine is out including article of HLRC
- Potential link in the website was offered by an insurance company. They would pay for that advertising link. Club members will consider the opportunity and investigate legal issues.
- Recommendation: Every time that a member purchases something from any of the dealers in Houston (any vendor listed in HLRC website) they should mention that they are members of HLRC. It benefits the club if they know we are bringing business to hem.
- Sam asked everybody to suggest/post on the web any events they would like.
- Tires donated by Sears were sold.
- Talk about HLRC encouraging more dealer events, and encourage dealer employees to participate in the events and interact with the clients.
- Bill Burke training: participation on any event with him should be confirmed months in advance.
- Possibility of a Discount Tire store employee to come to next month’s meeting to work a deal/discounts for the club
