February
5, 2003 Monthly Meeting at JAX's Grill
Meeting began at 7:45 pm, with
Doug Aitken calling the meeting to order.
In the usual fashion, everyone began
with introductions and stated their vehicles.
There was not a large formal agenda,
but many informal gatherings and upcoming events to
review:
-
Trees
Ranch & Trey
Burns spoke about the last wheeling gathering
at the ranch. The owner was very impressed
with the demeanor and the "Tread Lightly"
motto of the club.
Chris Urquieta also spoke about his impression
of the Ranch. Chris
stated the there was many obstacles, and there was
some varying levels of difficulty.
-
Other places to explore and for the
club to consider are Katemcy Falls, Primitive Acres and
the Trophy Club around Grapevine Lake. The Trophy Club
is the first place in Texas that has a Texas state grant
for an Off Road Park. Barnwell mountain is also
another consideration that is approximately 4-5 hours
away.
-
Gilmer TMTC is about 45 minutes
away from Barnwell, and has multiple types of trails.
-
Trey
also stated that in his opinion, Ledgewater is probably
the best place to go four wheeling. It has beautiful
scenery, great campling facilities, and variations of
terrain.
Kudos were given to
Bill Mallin for his
efforts and the vast improvement of the Web site.
Bill stressed the
importance of gathering the
bios of the club members.
Bios can be very valuable to help share information
among interested members as well as people in general who
want to know what things can be done to their vehicles.
Trail clearing in Columbus will be
this weekend on Saturday (Feb 8th) at 8:00 at the
McDonalds in Columbus. All that are interested are
invited to go and help with the trails.

Land Rover Houston is also looking to
lease out the Columbus track for 9 out of the 12 months of
the year. This will enable the dealership to host
different type of corporate events, as well as have more
club events.
Door prizes were given out, and the
meeting was adjourned!
