5, 2001 Monthly Meeting Minutes
Doug Aitken began the meeting with
introductions, and announced the arrival of Lance Miller”s
new baby. Everyone was invited to introduce themselves
and why they are part of the club.
- Doug recapped the last
committee meeting, reviewing of the web page design, and
scheduled events for the New Year.
- Sam Simpson, Events
Coordinator, passed out calendars and last Road Rally
instructions for the upcoming bluebonnet season. The
Calendars date all future scheduled events, open plans
for repair and recovery clinics with the help of the
Land Rover Houston shop. A possible next event was
discussed. It would consist of a large group of
vehicles either stock or modified for a tagged road trip
(teams of modified and stock vehicles helping each other
to approach control points, where each vehicle would
need to have their (attached!) control sheet punched).
- Doug recapped events of
this year in Moab, Easter Jeep Safari, Bill Burke”s
events, and other trips.
- Door prizes were given
to club members. They included: Atlantic British
baseball cap, $5.00 of Atlantic British catalog prices,
and a Land Rover mouse pad. The winners were: Ball Cap
new member, $5.00 discount coupons (Antonio, Ken,
Jackie, and A.A.). Scott won the mouse pad.
- It was announced that a
group was going to Spring Creek on Saturday, December 8th.
Plans were arranged to meet at the Riley”s store before
heading out.
- Chris Urquita told of
his experience with his roof rack getting caught on a
telephone pole, thus tearing off his roof.
- It was mentioned that
Scotty Thorpe was selling his 109.
- Discussion was help
regarding swap meet plans.
- Meeting adjourned at
8:30 pm to the car park, where informal Ątire kicking
continued for almost one hour.
