June 5, 2002 Monthly Meeting Minutes

The meeting started with usual fashion, as everyone went and introduced themselves.  Everyone put their cards in the hat for the door prize drawing!  Prizes were donated from Land Rover Houston, Land Rover Houston North, and Motorcars Unlimited.

The Double Lake Recreation weekend was discussed by Doug.  The amenities include:  swimming, kayaking, paddle boating, camping, and general playing to be enjoyed by all.  The campsite in rented for three nights, and Saturday morning there is a rally to be held from 1960 & 59.  Doug will be at the Toys R Us parking lot to begin and administer the rally.  The rally details were also discussed and plans were reviewed.  There will be two divisions, the general map/direction division and the GPS division.

The campsite is Group Site F.

The Houston Land Rover North dealership is hosting the New Range Rover introduction.  It is going to be a ÀSwanky” event, so everyone dress accordingly.  It will be on the 29th of this month (June) from 6 pm to 9 pm.  It will be a complete catered event with food and cocktails, so everyone attend.

Steve from Land Rover Houston is sponsoring an event to take the new Range Rover out to Columbus for a test drive.  All club members are invited.

Motorcars Unlimited spoke about their facilities.  They are having their one year anniversary, and for the Houston Land Rover Club, they are hosting a tech session for Land Rover Club members.  They have a meet and greet program for us to meet their technicians to become familiar with them.  They will also have a Q&A session, which will be June 15th, from 12:00 noon to 2:00 pm.  They are giving away a motorvac clean fuel service ($175) value as a give away.

John from Motorcars spoke about the motorvac service.  This consists of a fuel diagnostic check, clean carbon out of the system.  The motorvac service will help with performance and emissions, so it was urged to all club members to check out this service, as it will help the overall performance of the vehicles.

The raffle began and many prizes were given away from all of the vendors present!

One of the highlights was Gary Somberg¡s Tomb Raider Defender, which he had brought over from Spain.  Hugh Brazier also brought his 49 Series I, which is always a delight to see!  The usual review and inspect of vehicles was carried out by all present, and the meeting was completed.
