Sergio Sosa, the President, called the meeting to
order at 7:37 p.m. at Jax, Houston, Texas.
Andy Warner summarized the Shiloh Ridge trip that
several club members made in December, 2004.
Sergio stated that he would like to focus on educating
the members of the Club on trail leadership, safety,
and rules on and off the road. He also stated that
several members of the Board have created a rating
system for the events in which the Club will participate.
The rating system will be based on the difficulty of
a specific trail and is broken down into categories
A through D (A being the easiest) and S. The rating
system and the requirements for each category will
be listed on the HLRC’s website.
Sergio announced several upcoming events set for January,
2005:
1. camping trip to Bastrop State Park set for January
8 & 9, 2005;
2. monster garage set for January 15, 2005;
3. intro to off-roading class set for January 22, 2005;
4. Bill Burke training in Gilmer set for January 29 & 30,
2005; and
5. Texas Trails Coalition Membership meeting set for
January 29 & 30, 2005.
Steve McDonald, the Vice President, announced that
the first dealer event to be held in 2005 by Houston
Land Rover (the dealer on Washington) is set for February
27, 2005 in Columbus. The HLRC should plan on a land
clearing trip to Columbus on either February 12 or
13th.
Sergio announced that the following trips are in the
planning, but have not been finalized:
1. camping trip to Hot Springs, Arkansas in March,
2005;
2. the Solihul Society meeting in September, 2005;
3. Cosmo’s Big Adventure to Colorado is set for
the week of July 9 through July 17, 2005;
4. SCARR in May, 2005; and
5. several dealer events for both Houston Land Rover
dealers.
Alice McKinney volunteered to update the bulletin
board at Houston Land Rover and Stacy Templeton volunteered
to order more business cards for the Club.
The meeting adjourned at 8:30 p.m.
