2006 Board Meeting at Candelari's
Attending: Steve McDonald, Erik Pacior, Andy Warner, Sergio Sosa, Lance Sloan, Lance Miller, Barbara Howell, John Vegas
Sergio called the meeting to order.
The Board discussed the idea of awarding Alice McKinney with a gift for keeping the bulletin board at the Houston Land Rover dealer up-to-date with HLRC events. The Board took a vote and it was decided to award Alice with an American Express gift certificate. This would be given at the AGM.
The Board discussed the format of the AGM and it was decided that Andy would prepare a slideshow. The agenda for the AGM would be as follows:
1. Have members sign in, and if paid up to date, give them their membership cards, drink tickets, prize ticket, ballots for officers, ballot for change in Bylaws, and give them a chance to purchase raffle tickets and koozies;
2. Once everyone is seated – have introductions;
3. Doug will speak about Sam Simpson, one of the founders of the HLRC;
4. Summary of Gilmer;
5. Award Alice the gift certificate;
6. Announce nominations for the 2007 Board and the results of the election;
7. Announce results of Bylaws amendment vote; and
8. Award gifts.
Membership cards – Erik designed new membership cards. John Vegas announced that the membership list is up to date. The new cards will be handed out to the current members attending the AGM.
New shirts have been designed for the HLRC members to purchase. The style is similar to a mechanic's workshirt. Each shirt has the member's name over the right side pocket, the HLRC patch over the left side pocket, and the member's current Land Rover vehicles on the sleeve. Because each shirt is personalized, members must pay for the shirt, when it is ordered. Orders will be taken at the AGM.
Lance Sloan announced that the doors for the AGM will open at 6:30 p.m. and the AGM will start at 7:00 p.m. Each member will receive 2 drink tickets.
Last year, during the May 4, 2005 meeting, the HLRC members voted to give members who participated in at least 2 HLRC work events, such as trash pickups, dealer events, and land clearings, a chance to participate in winning a really nice door prize. This will again happen at the 2006 AGM.
