2006 Board Meeting at Candelari's
Attending: Sergio Sosa, Lance Miller, John Vegas, Barbara Jacoby Howell, Steve McDonald. Lance Sloan and Andy Warner were not in attendance.
Sergio Sosa called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.
There were several important topics scheduled for discussion. The Board, after listening to the pros and cons of each topic, decided on the following:
1. before any event (official or nonofficial), is added to the HLRC calendar, the event must be approved by the Events Coordinator, President or Vice President;
2. if a member is thinking of scheduling an event for the club, he/she can put the idea out to the yahoo group to see if enough members are interested. If there is enough interest, then the member would contact the Events Coordinator to confirm that the event does not conflict with another event;
3. two events may be scheduled for the same day as long as the times of the event do not conflict with other. For example, an event may be scheduled for the morning and a separate event may be scheduled for the evening, but two separate events may not be held at the same time or overlap in time. Two events for 8:00 a.m. may not be scheduled. If one event is scheduled from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. ., another event cannot be scheduled for 9:00 a.m. that same day; and
4. an “unofficial club event” may be added to the HLRC calendar, but there will not be a link to a sign up sheet. The link for the “unofficial club event” will reflect who the point person is for that event. (Please see the Bylaws for the definition of an “official event.”)
Lance Miller will contact Andy Warner to discuss the possibility of allowing the Event Coordinator to add events to the HLRC calendar.
The Board discussed possible candidates for the 2006-2007 HLRC Board. The following names were suggested: Steve McDonald for President, Tim Mathis for Events Coordinator, Mary McDonald for Secretary, and Barbara Howell for Membership Secretary. Sergio will send an e-mail to the yahoo group stating that elections are in November and if a member is interested in running for office, they need to let him know as soon as possible.
John Vegas will send an e-mail to the yahoo group reminding members that they need to pay their membership fees if they are not up to date. Sergio will also make the announcement at the October meeting. John will bring the membership list up to date, and if people have not paid their dues, they will be deleted from the yahoo group.
The Board decided that members who participate in at least two trash pickups a year will be eligible for a special prize to be decided later.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:55 p.m.
