2006 Board Meeting at Mission Burrito
Attending: Sergio Sosa, Lance Miller, Andy Warner, Lance Sloan, Barbara Jacoby Howell. Bill Mallin attended as a guest. Steve McDonald and John Vegas did not attend.
Sergio called the meeting to order at 7:50 p.m.
Sergio stated that we need to send out e-mails to remind people about the monthly meetings. Attendance has been down over the last few months. The cost of gasoline has dampened the members' participation and enthusiasm.
Lance Miller reported that we need to start thinking of people to approach to be an officer in the HLRC. The elections will be held during the AGM. Everyone agreed that Tim Mathis would be a good candidate. Lance stated that members need updated membership cards and the HLRC needs an updated membership list.
The Board discussed possible upcoming events. Bill Mallin suggested an obstacle course (not in our cars, but on foot) in Memorial Park. Barbara suggested this could be combined with a picnic.
Sergio mentioned an overnight trip to Double Lake in October and a trip to El Paso over Thanksgiving.
Lance Miller stated Bill Burke will be in our area and available to teach a class either October 14 th and 15 th , 2006, or October 18 th and 19 th , 2006. He is doing a class for Texas Rovers. The class needs a total of eight (8) cars. If we don't have enough cars, maybe we could combine the class with Texas Rovers. Lance will call Rachel Burke to verify when the deposit is due. The cost for each vehicle will be $455.00. Lance Miller stated that if the class is held at Brazos Valley there will be a fee.
Lance Sloan suggested that maybe we could hold a raffle over the next few meetings to allow a member to win a free ticket to the Bill Burke class. The HLRC has $600.00 in the bank and is debt free.
Movie night – Sergio announced that Sam Shirley has scheduled a movie night at his house for the first weekend in August. Lance Sloan stated that the hotel bars at his hotel are closed and the HLRC could have movie night at the hotel in September.
Sergio announced the AGM will be on a Friday night in November.
Discussions were held regarding a CPR and First Aid Class. Nothing was decided.
Sergio will talk with John Vegas regarding the status of membership.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:45 p.m.
